“O Death, where is your sting?…thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor 15:55, 57
As I wake this Sunday on Easter morning in the temporary quiet of my busy home, I am hoping and praying that the forced slowness of life (during this time of sheltering-at-home) has given us all more time to think about death and emptiness. The hamster wheel of life and constantly filling our heads and time with work and entertainment can sometimes keep us from facing and really looking at hard things.
We have a REAL problem in life and a real enemy. Death is real and day by day, we all march towards it. Emptiness is real and I believe we all have felt it.
On this Easter Sunday, I can say that death no longer has a sting in my life because it doesn’t exist for me. I know that when this body ceases to work anymore that I get a new one. How do I know? I know because the tomb of the One who promised to save me was empty, just as He claimed it would be. He was risen and with that proved His victory over death.
But how does that apply to me?
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
His blood sacrifice was my ticket to freedom in this life and the one to come.
He is Risen today and forevermore!
If that’s not something you have settled for yourself then it’s a great time to start the search; talk to God, read a bible, read some books, message me or another christian and stay off the hamster wheel that will keep you from everything that actually matters.
Life isn’t easy, I am weak and I fail on most levels everyday but ones things for sure, I am saved and serve a living Savior and live in that truth and that freedom everyday.
Happy Easter! Happy Resurrection Sunday!
